The Jayhawk West champion 10th ranked Barton Community College baseball team manufactured 23 runs over 14-innings Saturday afternoon at Williams Stadium closing out the regular season with a doubleheader sweep of Garden City Community College.

In the opener, the Cougars crossed the plate 11 times in the fourth inning coasting to a 14-1 fifth inning run-rule victory over the Broncbusters. Mixing things up in the season finale, Barton was gifted with balanced contributions up and down the lineup taking the nightcap 9-3.

Barton closes out the regular season with the top mark 26-6 in the Jayhawk West while tying for the most wins in program history at 47-8 overall. Garden City concludes the campaign at 3-30 in league play and 7-47 overall.

The Cougars will begin their quest for the Region VI/Plains District Championship hosting the first round in the best of three series against Labettte Community College Wednesday in a scheduled 1:00 p.m. first pitch.

Holding a 2-0 lead heading to the fourth inning, the Barton offense would break things open in the top of the fourth sending 17 batters to the plate fabricating 11 runs off six hits, four walks and four hit-by-pitches drawn.

Five different Cougars fashioned multi-RBI performances ignited by Quinton Robertson's three RBI day. Riley Silva, Ayden Blachowicz, Grant Nottlemann and Jaron Cotton completed the multiple runs driven home each adding a pair.

Needing just 27 pitches to collect the victory, starting pitcher, Tegan Cain (7-2) tossed three shutout innings yielding two hits and fanning a pair of Broncbusters.

Brett Allen worked the final two innings in relief permitting one run on two hits, walking one and striking out two.

Generating runs in six of the nine frames, the Cougars built up a 6-0 lead before coasting to a 9-3 victory. 

Blachowicz paced the bats with two doubles and a 3-for-3 performance at the plate. Owen Bailey, Hunter Seier, and Jackson Herbal each drove in two while Brock Howard picked up his first collegiate RBI, with Jaden Wiley and Cotton also adding a run fashioned.

Aidan Sowers (4-0) tossed the opening five innings yielding three hits, one run, walking three and striking out six to notch his fourth victory of the season.

Reece Hemmerling, Nathan Bowman, and Colton Wahlstrom combined to pitch the final four innings allowing two runs, off three hits and striking out two.
