The Barton Community College baseball team held off a late Kansas City Kansas Community College rally earning an 8-6 road win Saturday afternoon at the KCKCC Baseball Complex.

Opening a three-game set, the Cougars built an 8-0 lead after 4.5-innings and survived late following a pair of three run innings from the Blue Devils to earn their 11th straight and fifth straight road victory.

Improving to 13-1 on the season while KCK falls to 8-3 overall, Barton will look to secure the weekend series Sunday afternoon in a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader.

Lasting five innings, starter Owen Reynolds worked four shutout innings before permitting three runs in the fifth to close his afternoon. Striking out three, the lefty scattered three hits and three walks in the winning effort improving to 3-0 on the year.

Tyrus Riley collected his second save of the season getting the final two outs after the Blue Devils pulled within two runs with a three run ninth.

Dryden Howse reached base in all five-plate appearances finishing 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and walks.

Riley Silva drove in a team high three RBIs highlighted by an RBI triple in the top of the first to give Barton a 1-0 lead.

Owen Bailey and Robby Bolin concluded the multi-hit performances each recording a pair of hits and driving in two runs.
