Zach Thornton of the Barton Community College baseball team has been named the week 15 KJCCC Division I Pitcher of the Week.

Thornton continued his strong stretch on the bump for the Cougars tossing his third shutout over his last four starts. The freshman scattered three hits over seven frames walking a pair and striking out five T-Birds.

Barton now winners in nine of their last 10 games, swept the four game set with the T-Birds concluding the regular season in a three way tie for second in the final Jayhawk West standings at 20-12 while moving to 33-16 overall. Due to tiebreaking procedures, Barton will enter as the fourth seed out of the west and will face the east fifth seed Coffeyville Red Ravens in the Cowley sub-regional set to begin Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Arkansas City, KS.

Thornton's honor is the first pitcher of the week honor for the club and third weekly conference nod as Jordan Ellison and Connor Scott notched offensive selections in week four and week seven respectively.
