The Coffeyville Red Ravens got the best of the Barton Cougars on Thursday down at Wlter Johnson Park. The Red Ravens used a late rally in the fifth in the first game, 3-2, while taking control early in game two, with a 5-1 victory.

The Cougars fall to 19-8 on the season with the sweep. The series will finish out when Coffeyville comes to Lawson-Biggs field on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 1PM between the Cougars and Red Ravens.

Game One Recap:
Neither team could start with offensive firepower, with both teams going down in order in the first. Barton was sent down in three groundouts to start the game, while Graham Brunner set the defensive tone early when he started off with a strikeout. Brunner would only allow one hit in four innings, while striking out the leadoff hitter three times while on the mound.

Barton would get the first baserunner when Conner Allen was walked. A wild Red Raven pitch would score Allen while Jace Stewart was up. Barton would double their lead in the next inning when Carsen Pracht would score off a sac fly from Micah Grover.

Barton would run into trouble in the fifth, when Coffeyville built a one-out rally. The Red Ravens would hit four straight singles against Ian Lanik. A Cougar fielding error would give up two runs, tying the game at two, and the final single would give Coffeyville the go-ahead run. Barton would finish out the inning with a fly out and tagging a runner out on the base paths.

Barton could not muster any offensive firepower in the final two innings, as Barton would only get baserunners through an Allen double and a Shawn Marquis walk.

Game Two Recap:
Neither Barton or Coffeyville could start the offensive production going. Barton would tag out baserunners to finish out the first two innings, and would finish out the third on a fielder's choice.

Coffeyville would start the fourth inning with firepower. The Red Ravens would hit back-to-back singles, and would core their first run after a fly out. Coffeyville would continue the one-out rally with a sacrifice fly, before Jake Kuntzendorf would slam the door shut with a Strikeout, one of seven on the day for him.

Barton would start to make a rally in the late innings. Barton started off with a Pracht triple, but Barton would leave him stranded in the sixth inning, while Coffeyville would hit two consecutive singles to lead off the inning and tack a third run on the board.

Barton would pick up where they left off in the seventh, with a leadoff double from Conner Allen. Caden Bressler's Single would bring Allen around the bases for the Cougars' lone run of the ballgame. Coffeyville would respond in the bottom frame with two runs to extend the lead to four.

After being sent down in order in the eighth inning, Barton would have an oppurtunity in the ninth when Micah Grover and Jordan Ellison were both hit by pitch, but Coffeyville would use a 4-6-3 double play to end the game.
