The Barton Community College baseball team opened up the 2018 season today in Poteau, Oklahoma, getting timely hits and a combined seventeen strikeouts from its pitching staff to notch a pair of come from behind 5-2 and 3-2 victories over host Carl Albert State College. The teams will wrap up the four-game series on Friday with another 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.

Following a two-out double by sophomore Brett Bonar to tie the contest in the sixth inning, freshman Harrison Denk sparked a three-run seventh inning with a one-out liner to right field for the go-ahead run. Brady Michel followed with a double with pinch runner Billy Coleman scoring on Kaden Fowler's RBI single for the second run of the inning as Fowler would later score on a wild pitch and passed ball.

Fowler kept the momentum flowing into the night cap, going 3-for-3 including a game tying third inning home run and knocking in the game winner in the fifth on his second double of the game.

Overland Park freshman Tanner Howe picked up the game one victory in just a third of an inning's work with sophomore Dawson Pomeroy nailing down the final inning for the save.

Andrew Repp earned the nightcap win as the Topeka sophomore struck out four in four innings of work with Nolan Riley striking out two in the final inning to earn the Augusta freshman's first collegiate save.
