Henley earns Barton Baseball's eighth conference award of regular season

Cole Henley of the Barton Community College baseball team is the latest Cougar awarded the KJCCC Division I Player of the Week honor.

Providing a huge punch amongst the second half of the Barton lineup, Henley helped lead the Cougars to a 3-1 week including a first round playoff sweep this past weekend.  Batting .714 going 10-of-14 from the plate, Henley's .750 on-base percentage included six extra base hits on six doubles, a triple, and his fifth home run of the season.  The sophomore from Bishop Ward High School out of Bonner Springs, Kansas, began his week with a perfect 3-for-3 performance on Monday before capping the four-game week with a 4-for-5 day including three extra base hits in helping Barton's secure its first advancement in the playoffs earning a trip to Wichita since 2009.

Barton, the third seed for the Central District Region VI Tournament, will put their 42-16 record to the test against the sixth seeded 39-20 Panthers of Neosho County Community College at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Wichita's Lawrence Dumont Stadium to kick-off the double elimination tournament.

Henley's award is the eighth award for the Cougars as the Missouri Baptist signee joins fellow sophomores Corrigan Bartlett, Michael Sinks, Mason Hiser, and Trey Pittman, and three-time award winner freshman Jarrett Seaton.

Barton's run in the post-season play will have plenty of coverage for fans to follow the ride via social media outlets while being carried on local radio 107.9FM, as well as, audio/video web streaming and live stats found at www.BartonSports.com.
