The Barton Community College baseball team had its final tune-up Tuesday in preparation of the conference season utilizing twenty-four players in capturing a 9-2 victory over the junior varsity squad from McPherson College.  Barton scored in six of its eight innings with seventeen different players having at-bats while seven pitchers combined for the Cougars' eighth straight win of the season.  Dropping McPherson to 2-2 on the season, Barton improved to 11-2 on the year headed into this weekend's conference opening four-game series at Butler Community College.  First pitch for Saturday and Sunday's doubleheader slated for 1:00 p.m. at El Dorado's McDonald Stadium.

Derek Johnson led four Cougars with a multi-hit game going 2-of-3 out of the nine hole driving in two runs, the first coming on a second inning double putting the Cougars on top early 2-1. Johnson's second hit came in the fourth leading off the inning with a triple as both his extra base hits were the first of the season for the Missouri sophomore.  Taylor Langston's 2-for-3 game also produced an extra base RBI with his second inning double tying the contest before Johnson's go-ahead double.  Michael Sinks continued his table setting of the Barton lineup going 2-of-3 in the leadoff spot, in addition to, drawing a walk, while Ryan Schippers plugged the four-hole with a 2-for-3 contest as well.

Seven pitchers worked at least one inning of work with Keaton Suellentrop credited with the win earning the Olathe freshman his first collegiate victory.  Dawson Pomeroy followed in the lineup striking out three in allowing just one hit in his two innings on the mound while Neil Lemmons, Kody Lang, Brad Reif, Alex Feldkamp, and Andrew Repp took the hill for one inning.
