Cougars split with Rose State, look to grab rubber match on Sunday

The Barton Community College baseball team split its Saturday doubleheader at Rose State College in Midwest City, Oklahoma, rebounding from an 11-2 loss with an 8-1 win.

A three-run second inning put the Cougars in a hole with Rose State scoring in three of the following four innings to put the game away.  Barton turned the tide in the nightcap putting runs on the board in five of their seven frames at-bat, breaking the game open with a three run fourth.  After the Raiders pounded out fifteen hits in the opener, Mason Hiser improved to 1-1 on the year shutting down the Roe Rose State bats in game two scattering three hits in pitching a complete seven inning, six strikeout effort helping the Cougars improve to 4-2 on the season.   

The teams will hook up in the rubber match on Sunday with a nine inning first pitch scheduled for 12:15 p.m.
