The Barton Community College baseball team made short work of Brown Mackie College with a 13-3 seven inning victory Wednesday evening at Lawson-Biggs Field.  Two five-run innings staked the Cougars out to an 11-0 third inning lead putting the game away with a two run sixth to win its fifth straight.   Completing the early portion of its schedule at 7-5, the Cougars will open conference play this weekend at Cloud County Community College.  First pitch slated against the 2-11 T-Birds slated for 1:00 p.m. at Lee Doyen Field.

Five Cougars had multi-hit games as Barton pounded out twelve hits in six innings of at bats.  Michael Sinks led with a 2-for-4 four runs batted in night with three coming on a two-out bases loaded triple to the right center gap.  Langston and Derek Johnson also had multi-hit and RBI games beefing up the lower third of the order.  Langston came thru with the first of his two doubles on the night with an RBI double spurring the five run second and later an RBI two-out double driving in the game clinching run.  Johnson drove home two in the second inning and the other on a third inning single for three RBIs on the night.

6'4" freshman Dexter Coughtrey made the most of his first collegiate start as the Kingston, Ontario, native went four innings of one-hit ball striking out three while walking just one.  Brant Millerborg and Ryan McClure each had no-hit innings while Avery Riedmiller struck out the first batter he faced but had a rough inning of work getting a harmless groundout to escape the three-run Brown Mackie sixth.
