The Barton Community College baseball team came from behind Wednesday in Hillsboro, Kansas, scoring six late runs to win 7-4 over the junior varsity squad of Tabor College. The Cougars trailed 3-0 into the fifth inning before getting a single run then tacked on three in both the seventh and eighth innings to get the non-conference win to improve to 20-15-1 on the season while Tabor drops to 1-2. The Cougars will return to conference action this Saturday against Dodge City Community College for a weekend series in Dodge City. First pitch for each day's doubleheader scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
Three Cougars drove in two runs on the day, led by Trevor Turner's 3-4 performance. Kyle Cromwell returned from injury coming off the bench to go 2-2 including leading off the Barton three-run seventh with a double to center and a single in the Cougars' three-run eighth.
Pete Ruiz picked up his first collegiate victory pitching 1.0 innings striking out 2 of the four batters he face. Alexander Evans worked the ninth striking out three of the four batters he faced to pick up his fifth win of the season.
