Cougar Baseball splits day one of weekend series with Dodge City

The Barton Community College baseball team needed extra innings in game one then were shutout in game two as they split the first day of the weekend series with Dodge City Community College in Dodge City.   After scoring four runs in the top of the first in game one, the Cougars surrendered four runs in the fifth and sixth to send the game to extra innings.  Barton was able to score three in the top of the eighth then shut down the Conquistadors in the home half to win 8-5.  Game two was dominated by pitching and timely defensive plays as Dodge City scored one in the third and two in the fifth to win 3-0.  With the day's split, the Cougars are 26-20 on the season and 10-16 in conference play while Dodge City moves to 16-26 overall and 10-20 in conference.
