Stettinger to play baseball for Cougars
The Barton County Community College baseball team kept its ties with Great Bend High School going with the signing of Great Bend senior Michael Stettinger to play baseball for the Cougars in the spring of 2005. This years' Cougar roster includes four Great Bend High graduates.



Stettinger will play catcher for the Panthers this season under the direction of Coach Jeff Langrehr. As a junior for Great Bend High last year, Stettinger his .350 with 2 homers and 20 RBI. He also was 5-for-5 in stolen bases for the Panthers, which captured the 2003 Western Athletic Conference title and eventually took 2nd at the 5A state tournament. He was an honorable mention All-WAC selection as a junior. This spring will be Stettinger's 2nd year starting for Great Bend and his 3rd year of playing on the varsity.

He also plays summer baseball for the Great Bend American Legion team, where he hit .430 last summer with 3 homers and 35 RBI. Stettinger was perfect on the base paths again, swiping 10-of-10. In addition to his baseball honors, Stettinger also played football for Great Bend and has been an honor roll student all four years with a 4.0 GPA.
