Rowe signs to play baseball for Cougars
The Barton County Community College baseball team signed Jerald Rowe to a letter-of-intent to play baseball at Barton County next season. Rowe is currently a senior at Independence High School where he plays outfield and pitches for the Bulldogs.



Rowe, who lives in Elk City, hit .280 last season for the Bulldogs and drove in 20 runs as a junior. Independence just recently started its 2004 baseball season. Rowe has lettered every year for the Bulldogs, starting 3 years. He hit .300 his sophomore season at Independence and .333 coming off the bench as a freshman. During the summer, Rowe has played for teams in both Independence and Coffeyville. Last season playing for the Indy Heat, Rowe hit .360 and stole 15-of-15 bases.

He is also in his 2nd year as the president of the National Honor Society at Independence High School and has been on the honor roll all four years at the school, carrying a GPA of 4.0.
