Barton drops first game to Garden City in tournament
The No. 3 seeded Cougars were upset Thursday, losing to Garden City 8-3 in the first day of the Sub-Regional tournament. Barton allowed 13 Broncbuster hits in a game delayed twice because of light failure. Garden City catcher, Lance Schartz beat up the Cougar pitching with three hits, four runs scored and two RBIs.

In other Sub-Regional action Thursday, Hutchinson was the only top four seed to win its opening round game, defeating No. 7 Pratt 6-3. Top seeded Seward County was upended by No. 8 Colby 6-2 and No. 4 Butler County lost to No. 5 Cloud County 10-9. Seward avenged its loss by eliminating Bulter County from the tournament with a 2-0 victory. The second Barton game got moved to this morning due to weather.
