Jackson named to 1st team All-Jayhawk West Conference
Glenn Jackson ends his Barton County Community College career with a selection to the All-Jayhawk West conference team. Jackson, a sophomore from Toronto, Canada, was selected as an outfielder to the 1st team.
Three other Cougars received 1st team honorable mention. Sophomore Andrew Burdine, freshman A.J. Knight and Jeff Christy received honorable mention honors for Barton.
Jackson finished the year with a .345 batting average with six home runs and 37 RBIs. He also stole 31 bases out of 40 attempts on the season and had a .941 fielding percentage. His 31 stolen bases led the Cougars while his .345 batting average (2nd), 6 homer (2nd) and 37 RBI (4th) were also among the tops on the team for Barton.
Christy, a freshman catcher for the Cougars, was selected honorable mention after hitting .333 for the Cougars this season - good for 3rd on the team. Christy was also among the leaders with 5 homers and 34 RBI.
Burdine and Knight were two of the steadier arms for the Cougars on the mound this season, each leading the Cougars with 5 wins. Burdine, a sophomore, finished 5-5 for Barton in 11 games - 6 of which were complete games. His 4.68 ERA was 5th on the team and he led Barton with 79 strike outs while walking just 13 batters in more than 67 innings of work. Knight ended the year with a 5-3 record and a 5.10 ERA. The freshman was 2nd to Burdine with 73 strikeouts and Knight, too, showed good control with just 19 base on balls. He allowed hitters to bat just .284 against him, 2nd best on the team.
