Barton Student-Athletes named Outstanding Graduates #GoBarton

Ashton Ensley, Kayden Smith, and Keeley Wolf were recognized Friday, May 12, as the 2023 Outstanding Graduates during Barton Community College's 53rd commencement ceremony.

The trio were selected from a pool of nominees submitted by College staff, personnel, and faculty, with final selections made after evaluation and interview process conducted by representatives of the three areas, as well as, student representation in the process.

A member of the eSports team, Ensley earned his associate in science degree and was also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. The Great Bend native additionally was a three-time national gaming champion helping the Rainbow 6 Siege squad to its third R6 title and the program's 5th national championship, as well as, in the classroom was a three-time Academic All-America recipient.

Smith was a member of the softball team, earning All-KJCCC/Region VI honors, participated in Christian Challenge, and served on the leadership board for Community Student Organization/SPARK. The Topeka native completed her associate in arts degree with plans to attend Emporia State University in the field of criminal justice and eventually work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

During her time at Barton, Wolf was a member of the women's basketball team and participated in the STEM Buddies Program. The Hoisington native will continue her education at Fort Hays State University and work toward her bachelor's degree in elementary education with future goals becoming a kindergarten teacher and a basketball coach.
