Reece Hemmerling - Barton Baseball
Reece Hemmerling set the tone early and often on the mound for the Barton Baseball team tossing his fourth complete game shutout of the season. Going the distance for the fifth time this season, Hemmerling secured his eighth victory in helping the Cougars to an opening 12-0 run-rule victory over Fort Scott Community College in the best of-three series of the Plains District/Region VI Tournament.
The sophomore righty scattered three hits, walked two and fanned five Greyhounds on just 87 pitches. Heading back out for the seventh, Hemmerling made short work in preserving the shutout needing four pitches to record the final three outs.
Advancing to the Plains District Double-Elimination Tournament held May 15th-May 19th at Wichita State University’s Eck Stadium, Barton will meet the second seeded and 10th ranked Blue Dragons of Hutchinson Community College on Wednesday May 15th at 1:00 p.m.
