On a frigid day in Garden City, Kansas, the Barton Community College cross country teams took to the Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in the KJCCC/Region VI Championships. With the women not fielding a complete squad, the Cougar men placed 8th in the KJCCC West Division and 13th in the overall Region VI standings.

Competing in a field of 101 runners from NJCAA, NAIA, and NCAA Division II levels, the Lady Cougars didn’t field a full team in the three mile race but did place two freshmen in the top five as Mirena Goncalves took the title with Wilyeska Suarez grabbing the fifth spot.
