The Barton Community College women's cross-country team opened the 2023 campaign Friday evening participating in the annual Terry Masterson Twilight Classic held at Hutchinson's Fun Valley.

Making her collegiate debut, Beverlyn Kiptarus led the two pack of Cougars in the field of 91 posting a 20th place finish completing the 5K course in 19:40.60.

Sophomore Karina Estrada concluded the results opening her season clocking a 26:33.02 earning an 84th placing.

Claiming the team title was NCAA Division II program Fort Hays State University with a score of 31 edging out Tabor College's runner-up point accumulation of 54 and Butler Community College's third place total of 97.

Regan Hodsden of Fort Hays State University claimed the individual title pacing the course with a 17:34.75 to edge out her teammate Jaycee Vath's (17:59.39).
