Barton Volleyball player Maria Santos and Women's Golf player Mathanee Pandee have been named the week 8 "Barton Sports Weekly Athletic Award Honors."

Maria Santos was named the week eight KJCCC Offensive Player of the Week leading Barton to a 2-0 week hitting .577 on 26 swings and just one lone attack error.  Recording eight kills in the five sets played, Santos was also solid defensively with ten digs and six blocks.

Santos and the Cougars extended their win streak to three straight Monday evening with a four set road victory at Colby. Barton's next contest will come Wednesday evening as they host Dodge City Community College in a 6:30 p.m. first serve.

Mathanee Pandee helped the Barton women's golf team to a fifth place finish at the Tempest Intercollegiate. Pandee carded rounds of 78-77 to move up two spots into a tie for forth in the 45-player field at 11-over 155. The sophomore recorded a tournament second best five birdies in the 36-holes, five coming on Tuesday including a pair on par fives in leading the field at 1-under on the long holes.

Pandee and the Cougars will have some time before heading back south for its next meet, traveling to Enid, Oklahoma, October 18-19 for the 6th Annual Ranger Fall Invitational held at Meadowlake Golf Course.
