Barton trio earns volleyball conference weekly awards #GoBarton

Barton Volleyball's Mylena Testoni, Isabella Guedes, and Hanna Miller - 2021 week two KJCCC Players of the Week

A trio of Cougars from the 12th ranked Barton Community College volleyball team have earned week two KJCCC Division I Player of the Week honors.

Sophomore Mylena Testoni earns her second straight offensive player recognition while freshman Isabella Guedes gained setter honors and freshman Hanna Miller sharing co-defensive player award with Butler's Caitlyn Rexroat.

The trio has helped Barton get off to an 8-0 start to the season, five victories coming last week including Wednesday's conference opening road sweep at Cloud County. The Cougars suffered their first defeat of the year on Monday night in Glendale, Arizona, losing 3-1 to Glendale Community College. Barton looked to bounce back Tuesday night in tying the match at 1-all but Division II 6th ranked Scottsdale Community College protected home court to win 3-1. Now 8-2 on the year, the six-match Arizona road swing resumes on Thursday in Yavapai Tournament with two matches before wrapping up on Saturday with another pair.

Testoni hasn't missed a beat in her first two weeks of competition as the reigning KJCCC Offensive Player of the Week once again displayed stellar numbers for the Cougars helping Barton to the perfect 5-0 week. Testoni closed out the weekend with a career high 20 kills, posting a plus .500 hitting percentage for the second consecutive week, and recorded three double-doubles in the sixteen sets played.

Guedes distributed 20-plus assists in four of the five contests within the Cougars' 6-2 offense including tying a season high 27 assists, to go along with, a season high five service aces in Friday's match against McCook.

As the offense was clicking behind Testoni and Guedes, Miller helped control the Cougars' backline reaching double digit digs in all five of the matches. The libero posted a new season best 24 digs in Saturday's opening match against Central-Columbus, averaging 6.06 per set throughout the five matches.
