Cougar Volleyball rallies again for fifth set victory #GoBarton

Barton volleyball result at Butler

Consecutive five set matches wasn't exactly what the Barton Community College volleyball team would want in the midst of a crowded schedule but the Cougars again rallied from behind in coming out on top once again with a 3-2 victory Saturday afternoon at Butler Community College 25-22, 22-25, 15-25, 25-19 and 15-9.

Barton won the first set at the Power Plant only to have the Grizzlies tie the match by the same set score. Attacking at just a .083 clip in the third set, the Cougars dropped the third by a large ten point margin, digging a 2-1 set deficit like they did Thursday night against Hutchinson. Reducing errors by committing just three in the fourth, the offense heated up to a match high .267 attack to tie the match before rolling through the fifth set with the decisive match clincher.

The fourth straight win improves the Cougars to 7-1 in conference action and 15-3 on the season. Butler drops to 5-5 in league and 10-7 overall.

Barton's busy stretch and short turnaround portion of the schedule resumes on Monday in hosting Garden City Community College followed by Tuesday's welcoming of Independence Community College before heading to Pratt Community College on Thursday. First serve slated for 6:30 p.m. for each of the contests.

Reigning KJCCC Co-Offensive Player of the Week Mylena Testoni continued her torrid attack through the league by leading the Cougars with a career best 19 kill and 32 dig performance on an efficient .485 attack. The day's work marked her fourth straight double-double and fifth in the last six games.

Maria Santos' 13 kills extended her double-digit kills to three straight matches, to go along with four blocks, as Addison Crites led the 19 team blockade with six.

Isabella Guedes' third straight double-double put up 28 assists with 11 digs with fellow 6-2 setter Alyssa Herter's 19 assist and 14 digs marked the fourth double-double of the Great Bend freshman's season.

All ten of the Cougars contributed to Cougars' 112 digs in the five sets as Hanna Miller's 18 was second best behind Testoni's total with Tasiah Nunnery contributing eleven.
