Barton Volleyball's Testoni earns fourth KJCCC player of the week honor #GoBarton

Barton Volleyball's Mylena Testoni wins week six 2021 KJCCC Division 1 Offensive Player of the Week

Mylena Testoni of the Barton Community College volleyball team has again received conference honors in being named the KJCCC Division I Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time of the season.

Testoni shares week six honor with Hutchinson's Jenna Thorne as the two met Thursday night at the Barton Gym helping to produce a five-set classic. The Cougars trailed the match 2-1 and fought off a pair of match points before forcing a decisive final frame with Barton prevailing 15-10.

The Region VI leader in efficiency struck for a .473 percentage with a pair of double-double performances in Barton's 2-1 record last week. Hitting .680 in Monday, February 22nd win over Dodge City, Testoni recorded a season high 18 kills on 25 swings with 15 digs for her first double-double of the week. Testoni nearly had her second on Thursday at 6th ranked Seward County with eight kills and 14 digs then on Saturday in Garden City had 10 kills and 13 digs as the double-double knocked Garden City from the conference unbeaten with the sweep.

The award is the fourth for Testoni and sixth for the Barton program this season. Testoni earned her third honor in week four after consecutive week one and week two awards, being joined by setter Alyssa Herter and libero Hannah Miller in the season's opening week, and . Miller's defensive effort in week one also garnered national recognition in being named the NJCAA Division I Defensive Player of the Week.

Now 14-3 on the season and 6-1 in league play, Barton trails conference front running Seward County by two games in the win column. The Cougars have a short turnaround and tough stretch ahead beginning with a Saturday trip to El Dorado for a 2:30 p.m. match at Butler Community College before a pair of home contests Monday and Tuesday hosting Garden City and Independence, followed by a Thursday road trip to Pratt.
