Barton Volleyball opens home slate with sweep of Pratt #GoBarton

The Barton Community College volleyball team opened up the home portion of the schedule Monday evening with a sweep of Pratt Community College 25-16, 25-13, and 25-12.

Barton moves to 2-0 in conference play and 10-2 while Pratt remains searching for its first conference win dropping to 0-4 and 1-4 overall. The Cougars will have a week away from competitive action before traveling next Monday for a 6:30 p.m. first serve at Independence Community College.

The Cougars had one of their least efficient offensive matches of the year, striking for just a .197 attack percentage with eleven errors. Mylena Testoni led with nine kills and nine digs with Jo LaForce adding five kills and Alyssa Herter leading the 6-2 offense with fifteen assists.

The Cougars trailed 13-12 in the opening set before outscoring the Beavers 13-3 the rest of the set, stringing four points on either side of a Pratt timeout for an eight point stretch and closing the frame scoring five of the next seven.

Similarly, in the second Barton broke open the frame on a 14-2 stretch, pulling away from a 10-9 lead in scoring the ensuing nine points.

The Cougars put the first five points on the board in the final set, grabbed six of the next seven in stretching the margin to 13-4 before later burying Pratt with five straight for the eventual thirteen point match clinching margin.
