Barton Volleyball wraps up home regular season with four set victory over Pratt

The Barton Community College volleyball team returned to conference play Monday night in the final regular season match at the Barton Gym, defeating Pratt Community College in four sets.  The Lady Cougars took the first set 25-20 but dropped the second 22-25 before regrouping to send off the sophomores with 25-20 and 25-12 set victories.  Dropping Pratt to 1-11 in conference play and 8-26 overall, the win improves Barton to 9-4 in the Jayhawk and 22-7 overall while also securing the Lady Cougars a first round playoff match for the Region VI playoffs.   Barton also keeps the opportunity door open to improve its seeding but will have to do so with its final three regular season matches coming on the opponent's home floor.  The road begins on Wednesday with a trip to Hutchinson Community College for a 6:30 p.m. first-serve at the Sports Arena, concluding the regular season next week with trips to Seward County and Garden City.

Nathalia Gouveia led the Lady Cougars with a double-double performance of twelve kills and fifteen digs for the Brazilian's tenth dual stat stuffer of the season, in addition to, a team high four blocks and two service aces.  Fellow sophomore Olivia Naccarato tied Gouveia for team high honors with twelve kills on a twenty-five swing .360 attack while leading with three of the Cougars' ten service aces.  Monique Oliveira was close behind with eleven kills just missing out on her thirteenth double-double of the freshman's campaign adding nine digs.

As a team the Cougars hit for over .200 for the first time in four matches finishing at .209 led by the .429 attack of Kelsie Antcliff with fellow freshman Averie Warehime finishing at .304 with seven kills to go along with two blocks.
