Cougar Volleyball outmatched at No. 7 Tigers

The Barton Community College volleyball team traveled to Arkansas City on Saturday but mentally probably stayed on the bus for the non-conference match as the Cougars took a four set loss to Division II No. 7 ranked Cowley College.  Getting pounded in the first set 25-12, the Cougars bounced back to take the second 25-22 but the Tigers roared back with a 25-14 third before putting Barton away with another 25-14 beating.   Barton drops to 21-7 on the season while Cowley improves to 19-7 having won their eighth straight match.

The Cougars will get refocused in returning to conference play on Monday at 6:30 p.m. against Pratt Community College in the Barton sophomore's last regular season game at the Barton Gym.  Sitting in fourth place in the Jayhawk at 8-4 with four remaining matches, the Cougars have a full three game lead on at least the fourth spot in the standings which would ensure a first round home match for the Region VI playoffs.  Pratt meanwhile will be looking to snap a six match slide in a battle for the eight position at 1-10 and 7-22 on the year.

In addition to recognizing the Cougar sophomores on Monday, the men's and women's basketball teams will also be introduced between the second and third sets.  Schedule posters and autograph opportunities will be available for fans to meet and greet the 2016-17 Cougar basketball players and staff.   Admission to the game and autograph session is free and open to the public.
