Cougars taken down in three to Highland

For the second straight home match the Barton Community College volleyball team couldn't score points late as the Cougars lost 3-0 to Highland Community College Monday evening at the Barton Gym.   The Cougars hung with the Scotties for most of each set but failed to stay strong down the stretch and string points together in dropping consecutive sets 25-13, 25-20, and 25-22.  The non-conference loss drops Barton to 6-20 on the season while Highland's season mark improves to 14-6.  The Cougars have short time to regroup as Barton hosts Dodge City Community College on Wednesday in a 6:30 p.m. conference match at the Barton Gym.

Setter Mallory McQueen spread her team leading twenty-four assists around the court as five Cougars had five or more kills.  Emily Deterding led Barton with a six kill .286 attack while Nathalia Gouveia and Olivia Naccarato's also had six.  Brooke Joslyn led the Cougars with a .385 attack joining Jordan Edelman with five kills each.  Lydia Konrade was the lone double-digit dig effort getting eleven.
