Ranked opponents take down Cougar Volleyball at Johnson County Challenge

Coming off a Wednesday defeat to the No. 5 ranked Division I team in the country, the Barton Community College volleyball team didn't get much relief from national caliber competition this weekend as the Cougars dropped all four matches to Division II nationally ranked opponents in the Johnson County Challenge in Overland Park, Kansas.  The weekend results drops Barton to 5-17 on the season heading into Monday evening's 6:30 p.m. conference match versus Seward County Community College at the Barton Gym.

Barton opened play Friday with No. 6 ranked Des Moines Area Community College losing 25-19, 25-15, and 25-20, then dropped another three-setter to No. 9 ranked Central Community College 25-18, 25-13, and 25-19.   Saturday didn't get any easier as the Cougars began the morning with top-ranked and undefeated Parkland College losing 25-16, 25-22, and 25-14.  Putting up a fight in its last match of the weekend, the Cougars took No. 11 Kirkwood Community College to four tough sets but couldn't quite break through losing 32-30, 27-29, 25-22, and 25-18.
