The Barton Community College volleyball team found the trip to Iowa this past weekend to be rough going as the Cougars dropped all four matches of the Reiver Classic hosted by Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Barton opened the season on Friday with a straight set loss to Division II No. 3 ranked Johnson County Community College 18-25, 21-25, and 21-25.  The Cougars returned to floor three hours later to play its second consecutive Region VI foe and ranked Division II opponent, dropping a four set contest to No. 2 Cowley College 29-27, 20-25, 13-25, and 13-20.

Looking to rebound on Saturday, Barton lost in straight sets to Jefferson College 18-25, 17-25, and 14-25.   The task at hand wasn't going to be any easier as the Cougars wrapped up the two-day tournament taking on the Division I second-ranked and host Iowa Western Community College.  The Reivers made short work in the first set winning 25-8 before taking care of business 25-19 and 25-10 to send the Cougars home 0-4 to start the season.

Barton will open the home portion of the schedule Wednesday August 27 as the Cougars host Seward County Community College in Jayhawk Conference play.  Match time set for 6:30 p.m. at the Barton Gym with free admission.
