The Barton Community College volleyball program proudly announces the signing of Kylee Spray to its 2014 class of Lady Cougars.  Spray joins six other signees to compliment the return of six players from last year's 14-20 team that reached the final three of the Region VI Tournament in Phil Shoemaker's first year leading the Lady Cougars.

Spray, a 2014 graduate of Great Bend High School, helped lead the Lady Panthers to a 5A state berth this past season.  A two-time All-Western Athletic Conference first-team player, Spray led Great Bend in digs (272) and serve-receive (352), was third in aces (15), and fourth in serving percentage (93 percent).

"You can't draw a 100 percent correlation, but we felt she was a huge factor in the success that the Great Bend team has enjoyed, especially this season," Head Coach Shoemaker said in an interview with the Great Bend Tribune. "Obviously, all the seniors were critical components, but she was a big part of it. She's been recognized as being outstanding at the high school level."

A Great Bend record holder, Spray holds the single-season records in digs (393), passing average (2.56), and passing attempts (698).  To add to her accomplishments, Spray also holds three Great Bend high school career records in digs (782), passing average (2.44) and passing attempts (1,422).

"We've had enough interaction with her that we know she's just a quality person, that she's going to bring nothing but good to the team," Shoemaker said. "She's got a good work ethic. She's a person of great character. She's really what you want in a student athlete."
