Barton Volleyball drops four in Iowa to open season

The Barton Community College volleyball team found the trip to Iowa this past weekend to be rough going as the Cougars dropped all four matches of the Iowa Western Community College Tournament in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Barton opened the season on Friday with a straight set loss to No. 16 ranked Western Wyoming Community College 12-25, 15-25, and 19-25.  The Cougars returned to floor Friday evening and after playing much better, dropped three consecutive sets to Jefferson College 17-25, 20-25, and 16-25.

Looking to rebound on Saturday, Barton had the tough task on taking on the top ranked team in the nation Western Nebraska Community College.  The Cougars battled tough throughout the match but fell in three 20-25, 10-25, and 20-25.  Regrouping to try to get its first win of the year, Barton came up short in four sets to Polk State College 22-25, 25-20, 8-25, and 15-25.

Barton will travel to Hutchinson Community College Wednesday August 28 to open the conference season against the preseason favorite Blue Dragons before playing its first home match of the season on Saturday August 31 against Hesston College.
