7th ranked Barton women's soccer earns 2-0 road win over 14th ranked KCK #GoBarton

The 7th ranked Barton Community College women's soccer team produced goals in each half Tuesday evening, earning a 2-0 road victory over 14th ranked Kansas City Kansas Community College from the KCKCC Soccer Field.

Sweeping the season series and winning for the sixth straight time in the series, the Cougars remain atop the conference standings at 9-1-2 and on the season while the loss drops the Blue Devils to 8-3-2 in league play and 10-3-2 overall.

Barton will return home Saturday afternoon in welcoming 10th ranked Hutchinson Community College in looking to avenge an earlier season 1-0 defeat to the Blue Dragons. Kickoff is slated for 2:00 p.m. from the Cougar Soccer Complex before the Cougars return to the road next Wednesday in traveling to 16th ranked Cowley College.

Beatriz Baldi's give and go with Oceane Deslauriers created the opening goal with 5:40 remaining in the opening stanza, as Baldi's deflected strike ricocheting off a Kansas City Kansas defender fashioned an own goal and 1-0 Barton lead.

The Cougar lead increased to 2-0 just 3:30 into the second half with Aya Saiki cleaning up her initial shot denied deflecting off the crossbar, forming a straight on rebound strike into the empty net for her 10th goal of the season and 23rd of her career.

Goalkeeper Mio Tanaka improved to 6-1-2 in net for Barton, as the freshman keeper made four saves in helping produce the Cougars' sixth shutout of the season.
