Scoring six minutes into Wednesday afternoon's contest at the Cougar Soccer Complex would be the lone goal needed as the 7th ranked Barton Community College women's soccer team rode out the 1-0 victory hosting Dodge City Community College.
Barton's win keeps the Cougars tied atop the league standings at 6-1-2 and on the season while Dodge City slips to 1-5-3 in conference and 2-5-3 overall.
Next up is a Saturday trip to El Dorado in taking on 17th ranked Butler Community College in a 10:00 a.m. kick at the BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.
Reigning conference and national offensive player of the week Nina Norshie put the lone goal on the board just 6:25 into the contest, putting away Aya Saiki's through ball in beating the Conquistadors' Lucia Martinez Garcia near post.
The goal was Norshie's 10th of the year and 53rd overall while climbing to within three points of the 4th most in program history.
Saiki's second assist of the year also made waves on the program chart, distributing her 11th career dime moving into a tie for 15th all-time while also moving into a tie for 14th with 49 career points.
