16th ranked Barton women win 4-2 over Western Wyoming; Norshie records fifth hat trick of season #GoBarton

The 16th ranked Barton Community College women's soccer team scored a pair of goals in each half Saturday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex in registering a 4-2 victory over Western Wyoming Community College.

The Cougars improve to 5-1 on the season while Western Wyoming drops to 2-4 on the year.  Barton returns to conference play on Wednesday seeking their second win in as many games in traveling to Dodge City Community College for a 7:30 p.m. kick.

Reigning NJCAA Player of the week Nina Norshie added three more net rattlers to the stat sheet bringing her total to 20 so far in the year to tie Bianca Barron's 2013 accumulation for 10th best in a single season.

Norshie's first goal broke the deadlock just 8:48 into the game taking Aya Saiki's through ball off Natalia Baltodano's long free kick scoring from the top of the box into the lower-right corner of the goal for a 1-0 lead.

The lead would be short-lived 12-minutes later with Western Wyoming's Corinne Henderson sending Nia Baker's loose ball punt back inside the 18' for a perfectly executed Grace Pruden chip shot near post.

Just 2:42 later, the Cougars re-took the lead for good with Alisia Solis heading home her first goal of the season cleaning up Baltodano's second free kick structure bouncing off the crossbar and off the head of Ivanna Faria.

Scoreless 31-minutes into the second half, Belen Guerrero originating the play with a quick pass for Saiki's one-touch though ball from the left side finding the charging Norshie for a 1-on-1 near post net shaker.

8:32 later, Norshie closed out the Barton scoring, heading home a perfectly sent in ball by Kimberly Guerrero for her fifth hat trick of the season.

Western Wyoming's Madison Bailey would structure the final tally just before the final horn slipping behind the Cougar defense from Pruden and Henderson's quick one-touch passes.  

Baker improved to 4-1-0 on the year captaining the defense turning back three of her five shots faced while the Barton defense recorded the other save attempt on the afternoon.
