Six members of the 19th ranked Barton Community College women's soccer team earned post season recognition following the conclusion of the 2021 season.

The selections help lead the Cougars to their fourteenth straight winning season, concluding the year 13-4-1 following a 9-3-1 conference mark in placing runner-up for the second straight season.

Headlining the six-pack of honor were sophomores Seulgi Lee and Mercy Azanapo in landing on the first team of both the All-KJCCC West selections and the twelve member All-Region VI squad.

Joining the pair on the All-conference first team but missed out on the All-Region honor was the Cougars' leading scorer in Annika Gerdau.

A trio of Cougars landed on the second team of the twenty-two player All-Conference awards list, forward Dahien Cabrera, midfielder Francesca Martella, and defender Silvia Cinque.

Barton women's soccer 2021 All-Region VI selections Lee led the Cougars this season with 9 assists while netting a team second best 9 goals to compile 27 points ranking second to Gerdau's 29 points. The season and two-year career moved Lee into a tie for the 7th best all-time distribution total of 17 assists and moved into the 13th spot behind Gerdau with 43 total points.

The key to the backline defense was the play of Azanapo. Drawing the assignment of keying on the opponents best attacker, Azanapo along with Cinque helped Barton to eight shutouts and goal keeper Nia Baker to three conference Goalkeeper of the Week awards including the national award in week seven.

Gerdau closed out her Barton career 11th all-time with 20 goals scored, netting 8 her freshman campaign before leading the team this year with 12 including a hat-trick August 19 at Southeast Community College. Compiling 49 total points in her two-year career, Gerdau records the 12th best all-time total and just one point from moving into 11th.

Martella also entered the program record books with a three assist act in a 5-0 victory over Garden City, tying her for eighth all-time in assists per game while oddly enough becoming the third different Cougar to distribute a trio of assists on the October 20th date.

The speedy Cabrera gave the Cougars quick strike options and opened up scoring chances for the team. Netting three on the season, a pair of the Cabrera net rattlers helped the Cougars capture road victories with the third goal strike gave Barton a chance to upset then 15th ranked Butler.
