Barton’s Baker grabs national honor and second straight KJCCC weekly women’s soccer award #GoBarton

Barton Women's Soccer's Nia Baker, 2021 week seven KJCCC/NJCAA Goalkeeper of the Week

Nia Baker of the 16th ranked Barton Community College women's soccer team snagged her second straight and fifth career KJCCC weekly award while also earning her first national distinction of the year and third of her career as the week seven NJCAA Goalkeeper of the Week.

Baker the reigning week six KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week and the Barton defense continued their hot stretch protecting the net clean for the Cougars stopping all four shots faced in Barton's 1-0 upset victory over #14 Cowley College. The native from Wichita, KS extended her minutes without allowing a goal streak to 248:30 dating back to September 18th.

Last night the sophomore keeper prolonged her scoreless minute's streak to 358:30 minutes while helping Barton's team denial of goal streak to four straight contests and 412:37 minutes with a 0-0 scoreless draw at Hutchinson.

Baker and the Cougars will ride the streak into Saturday's key KJCCC matchup with the #15 ranked Butler Community College Grizzlies coming to the Cougar Soccer Complex in a 12:00 p.m. kick-off featuring a rematch of last year's Region VI Championship game.
