A pair of late first half goals proved pivotal as the Barton Community College women's soccer team knocked off 13th ranked Cowley College Saturday afternoon at Cougar Field.

Barton concludes the regular season second behind Cowley in the West conference standings at 9-3-1 and 10-3-1 overall while the Tigers slide to 10-2-1 in league and on the season.

With their second place final standing, the Cougars will host a first round Region VI playoff game on Wednesday in welcoming Johnson County Community College (7-6) to Cougar Field for a noon kick followed by the Cougar men hosting Kansas City Kansas Community College. The victor will then advance to Saturday's 2:00 p.m. semifinals held at Wichita's Stryker Sports Complex.

RECAP
Both teams lauched six shots in first half action with Cowley breaking through first at the 27th minute as Carla Ruiz cleaned up Elsa Pelicant's cross slipping through the Barton defense.
Kadin Stinson put two quick goals on the board in 34 seconds late in half, tying up the contest on a 3:47 penalty kick before providing the go-ahead net shaker outracing the Cowley defense from Daniela Paez' team leading 11th assist to rattle the net for a team leading 12th time.

Another penalty kick provided the second tie, this time the Cougars were whistled for a foul in the box with Sofia Gil scoring the equalizer with 28:55 remaining.

With sixteen minutes remaining, Silvia Cinque picked an opportune time to notch her first collegiate assist. The defender sent a long pass forward from within the backfield where Dahien Cabrera raced to and carried in beating a pair of defenders sending her 9th net shaker of the year from just inside the 18' to strike inside top post for the game winner.

The Tigers ended up putting one more shot than the Cougars but Barton put five on frame with Cowley sending three between the pipes as Maria Gutierrez provided a huge second half save and broke up a potential scoring opportunity by thwarting a cross.
