Cabrera Hat Trick sparks Lady Cougars 8-1 victory over Garden City #GoBarton

Dahien Cabrera bagged a hat trick, and the Barton Community College women's soccer team scored five goals in the second half to defeat Garden City Community College 8-1 Wednesday afternoon at Cougar Field.

Barton improves to 9-3-1 ahead of Saturday's regular season finale against Cowley County Community College. Kickoff is set for 2PM between the Cougars and Tigers.

The Lady Cougars outshot Garden City 27-5, only allowing one Broncbuster shot on goal. 

Garden City would start off the game scoring, when the Broncbusters would convert a long penalty kick with 26:57 in the first half.

Barton would respond quickly, when Annika Gerdau would float a kick over the Garden City keeper with 24:03 to go.

Barton would take the lead with 14:02 left, when Kadin Stinson beat two defenders off a long pass, before winning the 1 on 1 battle with the keeper for the goal.

Cabrera would add an insurance goal with 6:50 to go in the first half, rebounding a Stinson blocked shot and sending the ball into the top right corner. Cabrera would add the first two goals of the second half for her first collegiate hat trick.

The Cougars would bag three more goals before the game's end. Fatima Leme would score with 25:01 left, Selugi Lee would score with 15:03 left, and Gerdau would close the socring sheet with the final goal with 5:06 to play.
