Barton women's soccer score 2-1 victory over Dodge City #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's soccer team shook off an early goal deficit with a pair of first half answers in winning 2-1 over Dodge City Community College Thursday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex.

Barton's win keep the Cougars in second place of the conference race at 6-3-1 and 7-3-1 on the season while Dodge City drops to 2-8 in league and overall.

The Cougars' next action comes Sunday in traveling to El Dorado for an 11:00 a.m. kick at Butler Community College.

Dodge City got on board ten minutes into the contest as Cleo Parris sent a forward pass with Treasher Valcin slipping past the defense giving the Conquistadors the lead.

The Cougars produced the equalizer just six minutes later from Silvia Cinque's shot rebounded to the foot of Daniela Paez as Barton's leading distributor struck far post from 15-yards out to rattle the net for the first time of season.

As time clicked down on the first half that saw Barton outshoot the Conquistadors 19-1, defense led to the game winner as Annika Gerdau picked a Dodge City defender's pocket deep in the zone then struck low near post for her 5th of season.

Barton continued to control most of the final forty-five minutes of scoreless action despite Dodge City putting three of their five shots on frame.

Overall, the Cougars outshot Dodge City 32-6 in the contest, 19-4 on frame with Nia Baker coming up with three saves while the Conquistadors' Ane Garcia de Vicuna turned back sixteen Barton shots.
