The 20th ranked Barton Community College women's soccer team had their season come to an end Friday in Cleburne, Texas, as 18th ranked Hill College scored the 3-2 game winner in the 77th minute of the Plains District semifinals.

Having won the program's first conference title since 2008, the Cougars finished a great season at 15-4-1 while Hill's season came to an end a day later at 13-2 on the year as the Rebels lost 2-0 to 11th ranked Butler Community College in the national qualifying Championship game.

Thirteen minutes into the contest Hill College took the lead as the Rebels' leading scorer Tristan Escamilla outraced the Barton defense to beat keeper Reyna Gonzalez on the 1v1 to the far post.

It took Barton twenty minutes to answer on the scoreboard but the Cougars struck for a pair of goals in less than three minutes to gain the lead. Larissa Modesto set up the first goal at the 11:58 remaining mark by delivering a cross that was met by a diving Rayssa Neres' header in the six for the freshman's 42nd of the year.

Johanna Behrens gave Barton the lead a short time later in stopping the clock with 9:27 remaining by shaping a twenty yard strike to the upper-90 for the sophomore from Germany's 8th goal of the season.

Barton's momentum into the halftime break was halted with 1:01 on the clock as the Cougars were called for a foul just inside the eighteen yard penalty box. Gonzalez nearly made the save on the ensuing penalty kick but Madison Korkmas' strike was in the heart of the net in tying it up.

The Cougars unofficially outshot Hill 18-7 in the contest and 13-5 on frame but the Rebels would need only one of their two second half shots on goal to register the game winner. Following a series of defensive miscues resulting in near scoring opportunities, a final miscue proved to be the Cougars' season ender as Escamilla struck again to rattle the nets with 12:41 left in the contest.

Barton Scoring:
33:02 - Rayssa Neres (42), Assist Larissa Modesto (4)
35:33 - Johanna Behrens (8)
