Barton women's soccer cruises to victory over Northwest Kansas Technical College #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's soccer team led by six at halftime and never let up in a 14-2 victory over Northwest Kansas Technical College Wednesday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex.

Barton win aided by Cloud County's win over Hutchinson, puts the Cougars in first place of the Jayhawk West standings at 6-0-1 and 7-2-1 on the season while dropping the Mavericks to 2-5-0 and 2-5-1. The Cougars' next time on the pitch comes on Saturday with a 5:00 p.m. kick at Garden City Community College (2-5-0, 2-7-0).

A trio of collegiate firsts occurred in the contest beginning with Georgia Lawton's header coming off of Johanna Behrens' corner kick for the England freshman's first goal to give Barton a two goal lead 15:46 into the game.

Fellow freshman Laura Maria, who is tied for the team lead with ten assists, netted her first hat trick having scored at the 19:24 mark, again at the 78th minute, and finally in the 84th minute to complete the feat on the Brazilian's 13th goal of the year.

Distributing Rayssa Neres' fourth goal of the day, Spain freshman Margarita Franco's first assist came at the 89th minute to wrap up the Cougars' tying the program's second most goals scored in a game.

Neres, the reigning NJCAA player of the week, added four more goals to up her third best national standing to twenty-four. Neres also chalked up two assists to join Maria in a top ten national ranking and tying for the nation's lead with fifty-eight points.
