Barton women with third straight blow-out win, Behrens nets first collegiate hat trick #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's soccer team recorded their third straight blowout win by posting nine second half goals on the Cougar Soccer Complex scoreboard for an 12-0 victory Monday afternoon over Garden City Community College.

The third straight shutout improves Barton to 3-0-1 in Jayhawk play and 4-2-1 overall while dropping Garden City to 1-3-0 in conference and 1-5-0 overall. The Cougars will wind up their four game home stand stretch on Wednesday in a 2:00 p.m. kick-off hosting Pratt Community College.

Sophomore Johanna Behrens had a big day on the pitch, beginning the scoring with 20:46 remaining in first half play connecting on a 25-yard bomb into the wind as the sophomore from Bochum, Germany, would go on to net two more goals for her first collegiate hat trick. Behrens pushed the Barton lead to 5-0 7:17 into second half play drilling upper-90 far post from Ariadna Ramirez before chalking up the hat trick with 17:36 remaining in giving Larissa Modesto her first collegiate assist as Barton's lead swelled to 9-0.

One minute later it was Ramirez' third goal of the year that would give another freshman her collegiate first with a strike upper-90 near post to chalk up Georgia Lawton's first assist. Five minutes late Modesto would add to her assist by rebounding her own shot with 78:08 remaining before adding another to her collegiate first big day by rebounding Connie Norris' shot for the final twelfth goal of the afternoon coming with 3:11 left.

Rayssa Neres added to her Jayhawk Conference lead netting two on the day, the first coming three minutes after Behrens got the Cougars rolling with a similar long-range bomb to the top shelf. Neres increased the lead to seven 8:38 in the second half finishing off a big time cross from Larissa Fagundes before five minutes later sending a through ball to Laura Maria.

Fagundes started the second half scoring onslaught five minutes out of the break rattling the nets far post after splitting three defenders following Maria's through ball to the top of the eighteen.

Behind Behrens six-point afternoon, Maria joined Neres and Modesto with a five-point performance by scoring a pair of second half goals, the first giving Tressa Becker's second assist of the year by sending a pinpoint laser to the top shelf with 36:40 remaining then finding near post from Neres for her eighth goal of the year.

Sophomore Raley Mantz scored her first goal of the season with 13:23 before halftime as Luisa Souza's cross from the left side was met by the Derby native with a header past the diving goalkeeper.

Reyna Gonzalez and Priscilla Munoz split time in goal earning the squad's third straight shutout by turning back four Broncbuster shots on frame.
