The Barton Community College women's soccer team erupted for a program third best thirteen goals in a shutout victory Wednesday hosting Hesston College.

The conference victory improves Barton to 1-0-1 and 2-2-1 overall while Hesston remains winless at 0-2-0 in the Jayhawk and 0-6-0 on the season. The Cougars play their second of a four game homestand spanning a week on the calendar on Saturday as Dodge City Community College comes to the pitch for a 2:00 p.m. kick-off.

It took just under six minutes for the Cougars to get warmed up before launching a fifteen minute attack resulting in six goals.

A pair of Cougars struck for a hat trick with Rayssa Neres collecting the first of hers breaking the goose egg on the scoreboard 5:42 into the game in netting Laura Maria's first of two assists in the game.

Unassisted goals quickly ensued three minutes following with Ariadna Ramirez scoring as does Tressa Becker one minute later.

Larissa Fagundes joined Neres with a trio of goals to go along with a pair of assists for eight toal points in the game, netting her own rebounded miss to push the score to 4-0 at the 33:37 left mark.

Maria accounted for the final two goals of the surge, delivering her second assist of the game in setting up Johanna Behrens with 32:41 remaining then three minutes later put away Fagundes' first assist to expand the lead to 6-0 with 29:24 remaining.

Head Coach Ousmane "OC" called off the onslaught with twenty-four minutes left replacing all field players in cruising to the halftime lead.

The flip of the field with the Cougars' having the advantage of 15-20mph wind was not good news for the Larks as Barton would hang seven more goals in second half action.

Jessica Simental scored the first of the bunch at the 34:19 remaining mark, striking from about 35-yards out to rattle the net top-30 for the sophomore from El Paso, Texas, first collegiate goal.

It took the Cougars another thirteen minutes to score again with Fagundes credited with her second of the game but it was also a reward for another sophomore getting her collegiate first as Luisa Souza broke down the defense before sending a beautiful cross for Fagundes to finish.

Getting a steal shortly after the reset, a textbook 2-man game broke out between Maria and Fagundes working toward goal resulting in Maria's second of the contest.

Neres netted the next two in a two minute span, rebounding Behrens defected shot off the crossbar with a header to net before weaving around multiple defenders to complete the hat trick pushing the lead to 11-0.

Getting another steal off the reset, Fagundes joined Neres with the trio of goals fifteen seconds later to complete her eight point afternoon with 15:51 left in the game.

Barton's final goal was a long bomb beauty with Sydney Sulzman launching a free kick in front of the Cougar bench in traveling approximately forty-yards to perfectly strike the utmost top-30 far post for the Hays sophomore's second of the year.

The thirteen goal outburst is six from the program record set on September 15 of the 2009 season in a 19-0 win over Independence and one shy of the September 10, 2008, 14-0 effort over Dodge City.
