Gonzalez leads nine post season awards for Barton women's soccer #GoBarton

Nine players from the Barton Community College women's soccer team received post-season awards following the conclusion of its 9-6-3 season. The Lady Cougars' selections were led by eight from the freshman class being named to the 2017 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference All-West team, with freshman goalkeeper Reyna Gonzalez receiving All-Region VI honors.

Gonzalez headlined the selections as the Liberal, Kansas, native contributed to six shutouts during the season going 7-4-3 in the net while earning the conference goalkeeper of the week award twice.

Sophomore Kirsty Ashworth earned her second straight second team honor as the England native captained the back line in front of Gonzalez and reserve goalkeeper Rachel Hardin for eight shutouts on the season. The defensive team effort was recognized with two more defenseman receiving honors in Great Bend's Alma Garay and Germany's Johanna Behrens.

Having scored fourteen goals and distributing six assists, two-time conference player of the week Larissa Fagundes led Barton in all offensive categories. Joining the Brazilian on the front line in receiving honors were Hays, Kansas, native Sydney Sulzman, Derby's Raley Mantz, and Jessica Simental from El Paso, Texas, while Columbia's Ariadna Ramirez anchored the midfield.
