Lady Cougars blanked at Hutchinson #GoBarton

In a near carbon copy script from one year previous at the Hutchinson Salthawk Sports Complex, the Barton Community College women's soccer team battled Hutchinson Community College tor the first thirty minutes. Unfortunately for the Lady Cougars on Saturday there were sixty more minutes of action to play as the Blue Dragons scored two goals before halftime tacking on four more in the final half for a 6-0 victory. The loss drops Barton to 0-1-1 in Jayhawk Conference play and 1-2-2 on the season as Hutchinson, who is receiving votes in the latest NJCAA national poll, continues rolling along in the early season at 5-0 with their conference opener. Barton's next action will come this Wednesday traveling to Garden City Community College for a 2:00 p.m. kick-off.

An unlucky goal ended 253 minutes of shutout action of reigning conference goalkeeper of the week Reyna Gonzalez as a Hutchinson midfield free kick aided by a 15-20 south wind took a high hop over her reach into the net with just over nine minutes to play in the half. The Blue Dragons quickly added another less than two minutes later as Megan Maslak out skilled two Cougar defenders in the box before sending a hot mid net for the two goal lead.

Seven minutes into the second frame Hutchinson widened the lead with a backside header from a corner then like the first half, struck again quickly expanding the margin three minutes later. The Blue Dragons added two more goals, the first coming with fifteen minutes remaining before tacking on a 1v1 goal with 6:30 on the clock to match the 2016 result on the Hutchinson turf.
