Reyes' hat trick powers Barton women's soccer to 6-0 win in Goodland

The Barton Community College women's soccer team received an unexpected five point day from defender Adriana Reyes powering the Lady Cougars to a 6-0 regional victory Saturday in Goodland, Kansas, over Northwest Kansas Technical College.   Reyes gave Barton a 2-0 halftime lead before recording a hat trick to go along with setting up two more goals in the second half for the Lady Cougars' runaway victory.  Barton improves to 4-4 in regional play and 5-5-1 on the season while dropping the Mavericks to 1-7 and 1-8-1.   The Lady Cougars will have an opportunity of redemption in its next game, hosting Garden City Community College on Monday.  Sitting a game ahead of Barton in the regional standings at 5-3, the 6-5-1 Broncbusters earned a hard fought 2-1 victory over the Lady Cougars just five days prior in Garden City.   Kick off at the Cougar Soccer Complex set for 1:00 p.m.

Reyes, who along with fellow sophomore Hannah Knaak captains the back third of the Barton defense, began her big scoring day mid-way through the first half.  With Brooke Russell setting up the play sending a pass to Rachel Craft in the corner, Reyes maneuvered her way to the box settling Craft's cross before punching between the wickets of the Maverick goal keeper 21:38 into the game for the West Valley City, Utah, native's first collegiate goal.   Reyes would later break free just inside the top of the eighteen where Maddison Schofield's placement left Reyes for a strike to lower third inside far post with twelve minutes left in the half.

Kirsty Ashworth opened up the second half scoring within the first minute of play, settling Kayla Metheny's inbound pass before weaving in and out of the Maverick defense finding far post for the Oldham, England, freshman's first collegiate goal.

Following the lone goal she didn't have a foot in, Reyes notched her hat trick with twenty-two minutes to play on Craft's second assist of the game.  As Craft sent a pass deep to the right corner, Reyes found herself wide open before drilling inside far post giving Barton the four goal lead.

Six minutes later Reyes set up the first of her two assists hitting Megan Martinez on the left wing.  With a quick glance towards the box Martinez sent in a perfect cross to the back of the penalty box where the athletic Schofield punched in from mid-air to far post.

In a similar play to the earlier Craft to Reyes combination, the script flipped with Reyes dishing into Craft with the Colorado Springs sophomore rattling the nets for the second time this season for the six goal margin with eight minutes to play.
