Barton women's soccer falls 4-1 at Hesston College

The Barton Community College women's soccer team trailed early and never recovered Friday falling 4-1 at Hesston College.  The Larks put the first goal on the board less than four minutes into the contest on the short-handed Lady Cougars adding two more in the following fifteen minutes taking a three goal lead to intermission before an evenly played second half of action with each team scoring once.   The non-conference loss drops Barton to 3-3-1 on the season while Hesston wins their fourth straight improving to 8-1.   The Lady Cougars return to conference action on Wednesday with a 2:00 p.m. kick-off vs No. 13 Hutchinson Community College.

Hesston's Christy Kauffman gave the Larks the early edge putting away Mika Matsuda's pass just 3:57 into the contest. Moments later Matsuda was on the receiving end taking Miho Okuda's dish to find the back of the net for an early two goal lead.   Hesston would tack on another at the 17:19 mark as Alicia Ramirez joined in on the scoring fun from Jenna Boller giving the Larks their eventual 3-0 lead to intermission.

Kensie Johnson became the fourth Lark to shake the net as Matsuda and Okuda teamed up for their second assist of the contest pushing the lead to 4-0 with 8:39 left on the clock.

The shutout was voided less than a moment later with Amber Miller getting her second goal of her debut season with 7:52 remaining.
