  • Eight Lady Cougars earn post season soccer awards

    Eight players from the Barton Community College women’s soccer team recently received post-season awards following the conclusion of its 9-6-1 season. The Lady Cougars’ selections included four each from the sophomore and freshman classes being named to the 2016 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference All-West team.
  • Barton women's soccer season crashes to an end at Johnson County

    The Barton Community College women’s soccer team had their season come to a crashing end Saturday in Overland Park, Kansas, as the Lady Cougars were outmatched 7-0 by Johnson County Community College in the first round of the Region VI playoffs. Battling scoreless through the first twenty-five minutes, the Cavaliers put two on the board within six minutes of each other then added two more within a minute apart late in the first half in building a 4-0 intermission break, sealing any hope of a Barton comeback tacking on two early second half goals. The loss concludes the sixth seeded Lady Cougars’ season at 9-6-1 while third seeded Johnson County improves to 11-5-1 advancing to Thursday’s 6:00 p.m. semifinal game.
  • Barton women's soccer close out regular season with seven goal shutout

    The Barton Community College women’s soccer team closed out the regular season Saturday at the Cougar Soccer Complex with a 7-0 Region VI victory over Northwest Kansas Technical College. Playing for the final time on their home turf, four sophomores accounted for five first half goals as the Lady Cougars cruised past an undermanned Lady Mavericks squad. Barton finishes the regular season 9-5-1 while Northwest Kansas finishes 2-11-1 overall with a 2-10 region season. Placing second in the Jayhawk West division at 5-3, Barton finished third in the Region VI standings at 8-4 and will play its first round regional playoff game in Overland Park, Kansas, to take on the East’s No. 2 seed Johnson County Community College who wrapped up the regular season at 9-2-1 in conference and 10-5-1 overall.
  • Barton women repeat the feat, score 3-2 comeback victory over Dodge City

    A month removed from the Barton Community College women’s soccer team scoring two goals in the final fifteen minutes for a 3-2 win over Dodge City Community College, Wednesday evening was nearly a replay in Dodge City but this time it only took two minutes for the Lady Cougars to score a pair for another 3-2 comeback win over the Lady Conquistadors. Trailing 2-1 coming out of the halftime intermission at Memorial Stadium, Maddison Schofield powered the victory scoring twice in two minutes with less than eleven minutes remaining. The victory wraps up at least second place for the Lady Cougars improving to 5-3 in the Jayhawk and 8-5-1 on the season while dropping Dodge City to 3-5 and 6-7.

  • Schofield's second half hat trick leads Lady Cougar soccer to 4-2 win over Hesston

    Trailing by one at the break, the Barton Community College women’s soccer team struck for four second half goals Thursday at the Cougar Soccer Complex picking up a crucial Region VI victory 4-2 over Hesston College. The Lady Cougars were led by the hat trick of multi-sport athlete Maddison Schofield scoring three goals in less than fifteen minutes setting up another goal five minutes later before a late penalty kick by the Larks accounted for the final two goal margin. Avenging a three goal loss last month in Hesston, the Lady Cougars draw to within one of the Larks for second place in the region at 6-4 while improving to 7-5-1 on the year. Hesston falls to 7-3 with its second straight regional loss and 11-4 overall.

    Just five days ago the Barton Community College women’s soccer team found themselves playing from behind early to Garden City Community College before eventually falling 2-1. Today at the Cougar Soccer Complex the Lady Cougars again trailed early but twice rallied from behind before producing the go-ahead goal and holding off the Broncbusters for a 3-2 victory.
  • Reyes' hat trick powers Barton women's soccer to 6-0 win in Goodland

    The Barton Community College women’s soccer team received an unexpected five point day from defender Adriana Reyes powering the Lady Cougars to a 6-0 regional victory Saturday in Goodland, Kansas, over Northwest Kansas Technical College. Reyes gave Barton a 2-0 halftime lead before recording a hat trick to go along with setting up two more goals in the second half for the Lady Cougars’ runaway victory. Barton improves to 4-4 in regional play and 5-5-1 on the season while dropping the Mavericks to 1-7 and 1-8-1. The Lady Cougars will have an opportunity of redemption in its next game, hosting Garden City Community College on Monday. Sitting a game ahead of Barton in the regional standings at 5-3, the 6-5-1 Broncbusters earned a hard fought 2-1 victory over the Lady Cougars just five days prior in Garden City. Kick off at the Cougar Soccer Complex set for 1:00 p.m.

    Two early second half goals provided the difference Wednesday afternoon as the Barton Community College women’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Garden City Community College. Following a scoreless first half, the Broncbusters broke through with two goals within the first ten minutes of the second frame before holding off Barton’s charge for the Jayhawk West victory. The Lady Cougars drop two games behind Garden City in the West at 3-3 and 4-5-1 on the season while the Broncbusters solidified their second place standing at 5-1 and 6-5-1 overall. Next up for Barton is a trip to Goodland, Kansas, on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. regional game at Northwest Kansas Technical College.

    Maddison Schofield of the Barton Community College women’s soccer team broke loose for five goals powering the Lady Cougars to a 9-0 victory Saturday at Pratt Community College. The Lady Cougars scored two in the first five minutes building a four goal lead going to the break before tacking on five more in the second half to outscore the Beavers 16-0 in the season series. The win improved Barton to 3-2 in the Jayhawk West and 4-4-1 overall while keeping Pratt winless at 0-6 and 0-10 on the season. The third place Lady Cougars will next head to Garden City on Wednesday for a pivotal matchup with the second place Broncbusters in a 2:00 p.m. kick-off.

    The Barton Community College women’s soccer team’s valiant effort Wednesday at the Cougar Soccer Complex came out on the short end of a 2-1 loss to No. 14 Hutchinson Community College. Behind two early second half goals, the Blue Dragons buried the first just twenty seconds into the second frame tacking on another eight minutes later in holding off the Cougars’ late charge for the Jayhawk West victory. Barton drops to 2-2-0 in conference play with the loss and 3-4-1 on the season while Hutchinson remains unbeaten at the top at 5-0 and 9-1 on the season. The Cougars will embark in a three game road stretch beginning with a 2:00 p.m. kick at Pratt Community College.

    The Barton Community College women’s soccer team trailed early and never recovered Friday falling 4-1 at Hesston College. The Larks put the first goal on the board less than four minutes into the contest on the short-handed Lady Cougars adding two more in the following fifteen minutes taking a three goal lead to intermission before an evenly played second half of action with each team scoring once. The non-conference loss drops Barton to 3-3-1 on the season while Hesston wins their fourth straight improving to 8-1. The Lady Cougars return to conference action on Wednesday with a 2:00 p.m. kick-off vs No. 13 Hutchinson Community College.
  • Lady Cougars dominate Pratt for Jayhawk West shutout

    The Barton Community College women's soccer team dominated all phases of Sunday's conference match at the Cougar Soccer Complex earning a 7-0 shutout over Pratt Community College. The Lady Cougars scored three in the first forty-five minutes before tacking on four second half goals in Barton's highest output of the season while denying any Pratt shots to get launched in the contest. The victory improves the Lady Cougars to 2-1 in Jayhawk Conference play and 3-2-1 on the season while keeping Pratt winless at 0-3 in the West and 0-7 overall. Barton's next action will come Friday traveling to Hesston College with the women beginning at 5:00 p.m. followed by the men's contest slated for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.

The victory improves the Lady Cougars to 1-1 in Jayhawk Conference play and 2-2-1 on the season while dropping Dodge City to 1-2 in the West and 2-3 overall. Barton’s will return to the friendly home turf for its next match, a 1:00 p.m. Sunday kick off against Pratt Community College.

    For the first thirty minutes Saturday at the Salthawk Sports Complex in Hutchinson the Barton Community College women’s soccer team went toe to toe with the Blue Dragons of Hutchinson Community College. Unfortunately for the Lady Cougars there were sixty more minutes of action to play as the Blue Dragons scored two goals before halftime tacking on four more in the final half for a 6-0 victory. The Jayhawk West conference opening loss for Barton drops the Lady Cougars to 1-2-1 on the season with Hutchinson, who is receiving votes in the latest NJCAA national poll, continues rolling along in the early season at 5-0 and 2-0 in West play. Barton’s next action will come this Wednesday in doubleheader action at the Cougar Soccer Complex hosting Dodge City Community College as the Lady Cougars will kick-off at 2:00 p.m. followed by the men’s contest at 4:00 p.m.

    The Barton Community College women’s soccer team came within two minutes of notching their second straight victory having to settle for a 1-1 draw Friday at the Cougar Soccer Complex with their Cougar counterparts of Western Nebraska Community College. The tie moves the Lady Cougars to 1-1-1 on the season while Western Nebraska stands at 1-0-1 having defeated Jayhawk member Pratt Community College 3-1 on Saturday. Barton will have a few days rest before getting back to the pitch in preparation for their Jayhawk West opener coming Saturday, September 10, in a 2:00 p.m. kick at Hutchinson Community College.

Next up is a 10:00 a.m. kick-off Sunday morning hosting Western Nebraska Community College.

    The Barton Community College women’s soccer team opened up the 2016 season today in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, taking a 7-0 loss to No. 20 ranked Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa. The Lady Cougars fell behind early in the game’s first three minutes and trailed by three at the half spoiling Head Coach Ousmane Camara’s collegiate debut as the Mavericks remain unbeaten at 4-0 to start the season. Barton will look to get into the win column on Friday as the Lady Cougars host Northeast Community College in a 2:00 p.m. kick at the Cougar Soccer Complex.
  • Barton Soccer to offer one day camp Saturday, August 6

    The Barton Community College soccer programs are offering a youth soccer camp from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, August 6. Open to boys and girls ages 4-18 years old regardless of skill and ability levels, the camp’s goal is to help each camper become a better all-around soccer player in a rewarding and fun manner. Campers will work in small teams taught by Barton coaches and talented players focusing on individual, technical, and team training while increasing knowledge of the game. Cost is only $10 for children aged 4-6 years old while the 7-18 year old range is just $20.
