The first victory of the season came a little later than expected but Saturday at the Cougar Soccer/Track Complex, the Barton Community College women's soccer team broke through for a 2-0 shutout of Western Nebraska Community College.  The victory improved the lady Cougars to 1-1-1 on the season while giving Western Nebraska a season opening loss.   Barton will return to the pitch on Sunday for a 2:00 p.m. game against Trinidad State Junior College while Western Nebraska will take on Pratt Community College in a 10:00 a.m. matchup.

The Lady Cougars took a 1-0 lead into halftime getting a goal with 2:10 to play.  Defenseman Millie York set up the play sending a free kick into the 18' where Sydne Harpenau finished it off.

It didn't take Barton long to get the two goal cushion as Catlin Simon-Mans stole an early pass then sent a cross through the box finding Scarlett Real who blasted it past the Western Nebraska goalkeeper just thirteen seconds into the second half.
