The Barton Community College women's soccer team began the 2014 season Friday battled with Western Wyoming Community College for ninety-minutes settling for a 1-1 tie.  With temperatures nearing 107 degrees on the turf, both teams played with limited squads agreeing to settle the season opener without extra time.

Out shooting the Mustangs throughout most of the contest, the Lady Cougars found themselves trailing with twenty-four minutes remaining as Western Wyoming got on the board on an own goal.  Six minutes later Barton's Catlin Simon-Mans weaved through three defenders to blast in the tying goal.

Barton will squeeze in another scrimmage contest for the season as the Lady Cougars head to Newton for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off at Bethel College.  The Lady Cougars will then embark on a mid-week non-conference match at Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa before returning to home turf for a week-end classic August 30 against Western Nebraska Community College and Trinidad State Junior College the following day.
